About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Environmental Specialist / Adviser to join the Environment Sustainability Team within our Iron Ore Operations, on a permanent full-time basis. Reporting to the Environment Superintendent, this role is embedded within operations to provide technical expertise and further develop environmental capability within operational teams.
This role works collaboratively to manage a diverse portfolio of environmental and biodiversity monitoring programs, strengthen environmental performance and deliver improvement projects. This role is suited to an experienced environmental professional who can operate with a high degree of autonomy, effectively communicate with various stakeholders and prepare high quality deliverables including regulator reports and communications.
The role is site-based and offered either Residentially or a Fly-in Fly-Out roster from Perth (8:6 or 5:2:4:3 roster).
As the successful candidate in this role, you will:
- Bring proven ability to interpret environmental approvals, technical data and provide quality advice to operational teams and leaders.
- Provide oversight and governance to operations on environmental risk management and coach quality field verifications of effective environmental controls;
- Drive continuous improvement in environmental performance, including project management and delivery of environmental improvement projects;
- Scope, coordinate and review environmental monitoring programs, in particular Biodiversity compliance programs to support site compliance and future Approvals;
- Oversee and facilitate the reporting and investigation of environmental events and ensure corrective actions are effective; and
- Provide sound judgement and prioritise effectively in a dynamic operational environment.
About You
- A degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related field;
- Solid experience in a similar role within the Mining or Consulting fields;
- In depth knowledge and understanding of State and Federal environmental legislation
- Experience using GIS software and Microsoft applications
- Current " C Class" WA Drivers License
